The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control have brought forth a promising solution to the threatened existence of coral reefs: recycling old subway cars. Over 700 hundred empty vessels have been deposited into New York’s coast in an effort to jump start a new reef. The subway cars have proven to be a perfect starter for underwater environments, transforming a barren stretch of ocean floor into a flourishing ecosystem.
